AREA DESCRIPTIONS
BURNT STORE Local legend has it that Burnt Store got its name when the Caloosa Indians got mad and burned down the area trading post. Burnt Store road runs along the Charlotte Harbor Shoreline between Punta Gorda and Cape Coral. The Communities of Burnt Store Isles, Pirate Harbor, Burnt Store Lakes and Burnt Store Marina share the west side of North Burnt Store Road with the Protected lands of the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic and State Buffer Preserves. The Southern Half of Burnt Store Road goes through North West Cape Coral and eventually becomes Veterans Parkway. Burnt Store Marina is the only gated community on Burnt Store Road. Burnt Store Marina boasts the largest deep water, direct access marina on the west coast of Florida. It has two marina basins with 525 wet slips accomodating boats with up to 100’ capacity. There is also dry storage and outside cradle storage, a fuel dock, and ships store. Burnt Store Lakes has a beautiful country side setting sprinkled with lakes and open palm dotted vistas. Burnt Store Lakes is the only community on the west side of Burnt Store Road that does not offer access to the Gulf of Mexico. Instead it offers a tranquil setting among numerous fresh water lakes and a quiet country atmosphere. Burnt Store Lakes is a community of custom built single family homes. Lots are available for you to build your custom home and there are existing homes available for resale. A carriage home condominimum community is being planned for 2004 occupancy. Pirate Harbor Pirate Harbor is a unique canal front community that has a character all its own. It offers direct access to Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico and is convenient to some of the best fishing in the area. Housing in Pirate Harbor is single family homes on canals with building lots available for custom homes. There are existing homes available for resale. Burnt Store Isles Burnt Store Isles offers waterfront and golf course living. The salt water canals offer direct access to Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. Burnt Store County Club within Burnt Store Isles is a private 18 hole regulation golf club. Burnt Store Isles offers single family homes, villas and condos. Building lots are available and there are existing homes available for resale. PINE ISLAND Pine Island sits inside Charlotte Harbor and does not have the sandy beaches of the barrier islands. It is the largest island on Florida’s West Coast and runs 17 miles long and 2 miles wide. Though Pine Island lacks beaches it does have wonderful boating and fishing. Much of the interior of Pine Island is devoted to agribusiness and the growing of tropical trees and fruits. Marinas and waterfront homes dot its mangrove lined shores. There is an executive golf course on the island and many historic Calusa Indian sites. Pine Island has a laid back life style with a bit of the feel of old Florida. Pine Island has refused to permit high rise or high density development. Housing available on the island includes condos, villa’s, single family homes and some manufactured homes. Building sites are available. Punta Gorda Punta Gorda means "broad" or "Fat" point and was named over 500 years ago when it was the landing point for Spanish Explorers. 500 years later it supports a growing population of over 12,000 residents and has been consistently named one of the top places to live in the United States. Located on the eastern shore of Charlotte Harbor at the mouth of the Peace River, Punta Gorda has miles of Salt Water canal and Peace River Shoreline. Housing includes condos, villas, and single family homes and homesites. The Peace River, Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico are extensions of many "back yards" in Punta Gorda. The network of canals in Punta Gorda are popular waterways, especially during the winter Holiday season when residents light up the backs of their homes with dazzling displays of sparkling cheer. A lighted boat parade is also an annual event. |
AREA DESCRIPTIONS
Cape Coral Land wise, Cape Coral is the second largest city in Florida covering more than 114 square miles. The “Cape” is a large peninsula with Charlotte Harbor to the North and West and the Caloosahatchee River to the South. Cape Coral has over 400 miles of both salt water and fresh water navigable canals. Many of the canals offer direct access to the Gulf of Mexico. Cape Coral has four golf courses, a Community Yacht Club and Beach, Numerous community parks and a variety of shopping areas. Housing in Cape Coral includes Condos, Villas, Single Family, New and Custom Built Homes. There are many building lots available both on and off water. The cape is divided into four quadrants; South East, South West, North East and North West. South East Cape Coral The South East Cape was the first area to be developed. It borders the Caloosahatchee River and has many direct access waterfront properties. Many of the homes date back to the 1960's. This is an area in transition. Because it has many direct gulf access waterfront properties many older homes are being torn down and are being replaced with upscale modern homes. S.E. Cape Coral's main area of commerce runs along Cape Coral Parkway which is a main East-West artery lined with shops and restaurants and small businesses. South West Cape Coral The South West Cape is a fast growing family area with many fresh and salt water canals. There is a large spreader canal that runs along the west coast of the Cape. Much of the waterflow from inland canals is directed into the spreader. This buffers the estuary waters of Charlotte harbor from excess fresh water during the heavy rains of summer and provides a broad waterway for boating. The spreader canal connects to the gulf through a lock. North East Cape Coral North East Cape Coral is adjacent to North Fort Myers and the eastern part has taken on some of the bustle and increased commerce that follows Pine Island Road and Del Prado Boulevard. There are still many sparcely developed areas but growth has increased dramatically over the last year as evidenced by many new housing starts. The canals in the Nort East part of the Cape are almost all fresh water canals many of which lead to lakes and the large Alligator slough canal. North West Cape Coral The North West Cape has experienced dramatic growth and property price increases between 2001 and today. This is especially true of Property on the west side of Old Burnt Store Road which borders the North Spreader Canal. The North Spreader Canal gives access to the gulf by using a boat lift. The maximum lenght of a boat that can go on the lift is 23 feet in length. A new shopping center is being built at the intersection of Burnt Store Road, Pine Island Road and Veterans Parkway. Much of the growth is attributed to the New Veterans Parkway which provides an easy commute to Fort Myers |
